On this day 25 years ago, A Perfect Circle led by Maynard James Keenan and Billy Howerdel, released their critically-acclaimed debut album Mer De Noms.

The band’s 2000 debut set the record for the highest-charting debut album from a rock band ever, entering the Billboard Top 200 at #4. Mer De Noms quickly cemented A Perfect Circle as one of the most exciting new acts of the 2000s, as their hit tracks Judith, 3 Libras, and Rose launched them into widespread success.

To celebrate the 25 year anniversary of Mer De Noms, A Perfect Circle will be rereleasing the album in 2 Limited Special Edition Vinyls—the visually stunning ‘zoetrope vinyl” and the audiophile One-Step pressing “Definitive Sound Series” edition.

The 2LP zoetrope edition brings a new side of the record to reality with 4 unique animations—one for each side of the vinyl. The vinyl’s visuals include the album’s distinct glyphs, images from the band’s original photoshoot, clips from the Judith music video, and a dynamic display of the band’s legendary logo.

Mer De Noms Definitive Sound Series Vinyl

The Definitive Sound Series (DSS) version was pressed at RTI and re-mastered by Levi Seltz (Metallica, Green Day) from 96kHz/24bit source files transferred from the songs masters, preserving the rawness of the original recording with a new level of detail and clarity. With a strict production of only 3,000 copies, the One-Step process promises the truest representation of Mer De Noms, delivering an audiophile-grade listening experience that captures every intricacy of the platinum album.

In a Revolver cover story, Maynard James Keenan states the recording process was deeply personal:

“It seemed really emotional. There were a lot of elements that I responded to – where I could explore shadow aspects of myself.”

Howerdel recalled “getting goosebumps” the first time he heard Keenan’s voice on the tracks they’d been working on in their shared North Hollywood rental.

Pre-orders for the Special Edition Vinyls are available now:
