Guitar virtuoso Tim Henson, known for his work in the genre-blending instrumental band Polyphia, teamed up with cinema music producer Hans Zimmer (Batman, The Lion King, Caribbean, and many more) on the F1 movie starring Brad Pitt which premiered on June 27th.

Tim Henson recently did an exclusive interview with Rolling Stone, where he elaborated on how he landed his first major motion picture and how he laid down 40+ minutes of guitar for the film.

When asked if he'd be interested in working more in the film music industry Tim stated:

"Oh, absolutely. I am ready and hot to make more stuff in the film industry. Hans is Lion King, The Dark Knight, all the incredibly iconic things from my childhood and adolescence. Working with the master — just such an incredible bucket-list thing, and I have a taste for it now. I’m excited to dive into the pool of working in film. I gotta do more. I’m very excited for the future and what that holds. I would love to be more involved in the composing aspect as opposed to pulling up and it’s already a beautiful score."

Henson also announced that the band is working on having their 5th album done by Halloween, saying "It’s heavier than anything we’ve ever done".

The F1 film soundtrack has been trending across social media, gaining nearly 5 million views on YouTube and millions more across other platforms in the last 2 weeks.

Tim Henson is becoming an influential name in the music and now, film industry, even drawing attention from Metallica's Kirk Hammet in a recent interview with Rolling Stone where he said "It’s really unique, and in terms of technique, it’s amazing. But then, it’s the age-old question: How relatable is it? It’s good to listen to, like, three or four times. Can you really relate?". Tim Henson has also been featured on WIRED's YouTube series, in which his episode has over 6 million views.

Tim Henson tells the story of how his Tour manager was friends with Hans Zimmerman's guitar tech, and he gifted one of his signature nylon guitars to Hans along with his phone number and email.

Hans soon responded "Dearest Tim, you know that I’ve been a humble fan of yours for ages." When Tim Henson went to L.A. he met up with Zimmerman who showed him the F1 soundtrack he was working on and invited him to help with the tracking for the movie.

When asked about if it was hard for him to work on more simple guitar riffs than his usual music, Tim responded with:

"It’s really important to understand who you’re making it for and what you’re making. In this context, my job is to serve the movie. In the context of Polyphia, my job is to just make crazy shit: “Let’s just make it crazy as fuck, and I don’t care about anybody else’s opinion about this because I’m trying to make it cool for me."

You can watch the F1 movie on Apple TV+ and Prime Video now, and physical versions of the films soundtrack are available now on the F1 movie website.
