EP Review: a Circle of Teeth "Primal"

A Circle of Teeth just released their latest EP, Primal, on Bandcamp on September 25th, 2025, with plans to release on Spotify by the end of the year.
The 5-track release introduces itself with Ritualistic, starting with ominous industrial screeches, haunting piano, and distorted, repeating digitalized talking before launching into crushing down-tuned guitar chugs, explosive screams, and slamming drum grooves. Quickly building a sound that reminds of a mix of death metal and alternative/industrial metal genres, a Circle of Teeth delivers a powerfully heavy yet distinct sound. Disturbing vocal delivery, danceable drums, melodic tremolos, and ambient atmospheres create a sound that even starts to remind of nu metal giants like Korn and Static-X.
Next up is Six Pale Fingers, which bursts into action with aggressive guitar chugs and rapid screams delivered as though they are rap vocals. Dark industrial atmospheres are accompanied by screeching guitar dissonance, creating an intensely heavy sound that strikes a balance between grooviness and destruction. The song then slowly fades out with eerie piano and whispers bouncing around the mix.
Something Downstairs acts as an interlude that captures a chilling atmosphere with a horror reminiscent soundscape filled with labored breathing, airy synths, repetitive, creeping vocals, and an overall evil feeling. Something Downstairs feels like a soundtrack for Silent Hill with its unnerving sound that strikes a chord of unease in the listener.
Screaming Limbs starts with distant shrieks before launching straight into a build-up with galloping guitar rhythms and blistering tremolos cutting through the mix. When a Circle of Teeth kicks in with those percussive nu metal screams, a dynamic change in energy is palpable before another sudden shift into slightly deranged, melodic singing, adding chaos-infused yet enticing sound. After a short guitar solo and piano melody is accompanied by haunting pads, Screaming Limbs introduces a fierce industrial synth that reminded us of an EDM or dubstep type bass synth before fading out into an eerie atmosphere.
The final track, The Night Collapsed, furthers the previous ominous atmosphere before growing drum fills, and guitar leads launch into full band destruction as harsh screams alternate with hectic singing that reminds us of Korn's dynamic between screaming vocal flows and dark singing melodies. An industrial drum beat leads into a bridge with distant wails before reintroducing screams before catapulting into full pace destruction. In a final outro, digital ambience and horror pads create a haunting exit to the EP, finishing off the vibe as it had started.
Overall, Primal is an exciting release that draws upon classic nu metal acts while creating a modern sound that infuses elements of horror, industrial, and death metal influences.
You can stream Primal on Bandcamp below, or wait for the release on all streaming platforms coming by the end of 2025.
