BUZZARD Release Folk Doom EP "Everything Is Not Going To Be Alright"
Massachusetts Folk Doom metal act, Buzzard, just released their 7-track EP, Everything Is Not Going To Be Alright. Buzzard is a solo project with Christopher Thomas Elliott at the helm, doing all vocals, instruments, songwriting, and production. Elliot's work has achieved praise by Obelisk, the Ripple Effect, Outlaws of the Sun, Noob Heavy, and more.
Buzzard has a distinct sound that blends folk music with doom metal, bridging storytelling, metal intensity, and themes of eccentric fiction and satire. Lyrics tackle topics like political and personal experience, while occasional elements of Lovecraftian horror mix things up.
From the first track of Everything Is Not Going To Be Alright, it's clear that Buzzard is bringing something different to the table; acoustic country twang is combated by dark, fuzzy doom metal riffs, creating a memorable and unique sound. Songs like Doom Folk Fury and Screaming into the Void showcase commentary on the state of modern society and politics, while The Lunatic Lighthouse Keeper delves into fiction of grandiose proportions. Throughout the EP, Buzzard builds a distinct sound that balances classic folk songwriting with the sludginess of doom metal.
Everything Is Not Going To Be Alright follows Spring 2025's album, Mean Bone, which received praise from Clean and Sober, stating, "If I have to pick one album that stands out as Ground Zero for Doom Folk to come of age, it's Mean Bone by Buzzard… This feels like the definitive statement of an idea whose time has come. No quarter is given on the cultural/political commentary on this album, and it hits HARD with its concept. Essential."
If you enjoy classic country and doom metal, or have ever wondered what the two would sound like together, Buzzard creates a signature musical style that is worth checking out. You can stream Everything Is Not Going To Be Alright available now:
