Song Review: Killamozz - "Fool's Gold"

Killamozz released their 2nd single Fool's Gold on September 5th, 2025. The California-based act is set to release multiple singles leading up to their much-anticipated upcoming album, Age of Cage, coming October 10th.

Fool's Gold starts with electronic drum beats, a distant lofi guitar, and bright synth melodies before launching into chunky, djent riffs that soon fade, instead making way for an atmospheric soundscape filled with soft vocal melodies. Killamozz soon jumps into a dynamic metalcore-reminiscent chorus, showcasing their ability to write both anthemic instrumentals and infectious hooks.

Fool's Gold delivers a narrative on corruption and greed in the gas and oil industry, all through the lens of Mammon–a demon of wealth who is strengthened by humanity's lust for power.

Killamozz showcases their incredible production and clarity with Fool's Gold; despite it being their 2nd release to date, the band provides a seasoned and exciting sound. The track even contains a creative breakdown filled with EDM and dubstep-influenced synth drops while guitar dissonance and chugs create a progressive yet visceral metal style.

Overall, Fool's Gold is an extremely impressive showcase of what Killamozz has to offer, delivering a blend of multiple genres with a heavy-hitting metal sound, all while keeping addictive hooks that will leave you coming back for more.
