Lenax Album Cover "Infection" | The Metalverse.net

Blending traditional black metal with themes of cosmic horror, Lenax is a U.S. based metal act that just released their debut album, Infection. The 9-track release delivers a hard-hitting sound filled with racing blast beats, blistering guitar leads, and visceral screams.

Lenax creates sinister atmospheres that evoke a haunting feeling in the listener before launching into unrelenting extreme metal filled with grooving death metal-esque riffs, slamming drum beats, and ferocious vocals.

Tracks like Worship Hymn and Crossroad Black form a more old-school black metal sound with hard-hitting guitar tremolos, while tracks like Leeches take a more death metal-forward sound that even seems to have some instrumental influence from Gojira.

If you are a fan of death metal, black metal, and extreme metal genres, you will certainly enjoy Lenax's powerful sound that balances a raw old-school sound with current production in a way that draws equally upon nostalgia and distinction.

Exclusive Interview with Lenax:

1: How would you describe Lenax's music?

I generally describe us as melodic black metal with cosmic horror and occult themes. We have roots in second wave black metal, with a unique bleed over of "black n roll" influenced groove to our music.

2: What are the band's biggest influences?

For me I would have to cite Led Zeppelin as my biggest lifelong influence as a musician, with Enslaved as the number one for a well written, masterfully performed, and esoteric minded black metal. Other big hitters within the band include Opeth, Metallica, Taake, Gojira, Watain, Emperor, and Gorgoroth. This of course is a a very truncated list. With the four of us, we all have a lifelong love of metal and many of the creative forms it takes.

3: What is "Infection" about, and what does it mean to you?

Infection takes the ideas of individuality and free will that we explored in the debut EP, Purity, and multiplies them to the human race. The concept of "infect the sleeping masses with the black flame" (a line from the song Worship Hymn) is meant to convey the same profound life change of waking up to a sense of fierce individuality and manifest that in the world. Given the current discourse on how politicians, marketing, and social media attempt to condition our thoughts, this rather eternal idea is extremely relevant for the state of the world today.

4: How did Lenax form?

I formed Lenax in late 2022 as a solo project and began transitioning into a full band in 2023. IN early 2024, we started playing our first shows.

5: What is the story behind your band name?

That one hasn't been revealed yet! It is a unique name with a personal meaning.

6: What does the band enjoy doing outside of music?

Tabletop and video games are pretty common in the group, as is time with our families.

7: What is one band you hope to collaborate with in the future?

This is a hard one to answer! Any number of extreme metal giants from Norway and Sweden would be great to support on tour, or a dream to collaborate with.

8: What’s next for Lenax?

We are currently in the writing season for our next full-length album! This one will be a concept album of 13 songs and will be another evolutionary leap forward in our music. We are aiming to have pre-production wrapped up by year's end and be hitting the studio in very early 2026.
