Song Review: Palpitate - “REBEL”

Hailing from Czechia, metal act Palpitate released their latest single Rebel on July 4th. The song bursts into action with blistering riffs, slamming drums and booming bass that soon makes way for clean guitar melodies and raspy scream-singing that blends melody with aggression.

Racing double bass drum beats and rapid riffs create thrashing tempos that make way for slowed sections that remind of progressive metal or metalcore ambient sections. Palpitate does an excellent job creating distinctly different atmospheres, transitioning from explosive breakdowns, to galloping riffs, to melodic sections within a heartbeat.

Clocking in at just over 5 minutes, Rebel switches things up in a unique bridge that uses a jazz-inspired drum beat and hooks takes a more melodic focus, before launching into a soaring guitar solo before fading out the track.

With Rebel, Palpitate create a distinct sound that blends genres like classic metal, thrash, progressive metal, and melody focused genres outside of metal. You can stream Rebel out on all platforms now!
