Savarre Release New Single “Awake”

I’ll tell you straight: “Awake” by SAVARRE doesn’t care if you’re ready. It throws you straight into the cold river—no warning, no hand-holding. Shannon Denise Evans kicks open the door with a voice that sounds equal parts haunted echo and iron will. The track’s got this shiver down the spine quality—the kind of thing that would close out a coming-of-age movie set on rain-slicked city streets, cigarette smoke curling off the credits.

There’s no cautious ramp-up. The first note lands like the first slap of cold outside air. The production is all sharp edges and honesty; Venguer, Evans, Glatthorn—they don’t sand down a damn thing. You hear the breath between syllables, the snap of the snare, the pulse running under the keys. It feels alive. Maybe even a little mean, in the most intoxicating way.

Lyrically, Evans tosses existential questions like confetti—Are you really awake, or just ghosting through the days? The chorus crashes in with, “You’re a dead man walking into the fire,” and it’s not so much a sing-along as it is a dare. Most rock tracks tease out their hooks with a wink. “Awake” feels more like an intervention. There’s no self-help lingo, no sugarcoating—just a sharp look in the mirror, bags under your eyes and all.

The other tracks in the SAVARRE arsenal—“Unbeautiful,” “Haven,” “Art of the Bleed,” “Blood Under the Bridge,” “Scars”—they’re built from the same stuff: pain, beauty, grit, hope. There’s a mood, and it lingers. Not surprised to see this crew on the lips of every indie rag and webzine from Daily Music Roll to Hollywood Digest.

So, is “Awake” going to hold your hand? No shot. It’ll stand on the back porch, blowing smoke rings, asking why you’re still hiding behind the curtains. Flip it on, let it bleed into the early hours—maybe you’ll find your feet again, feel a little bolder, even if just for three minutes and change.

SAVARRE isn’t about radio-ready platitudes or Billboard sheen. They’re out here writing night songs for the insomniac, torch songs for the misfit. “Awake” is messy, human, necessary—and if that isn’t rock and roll, what is?

Let’s leave it like this: If you want music that sounds like it was made in a boardroom, look elsewhere. If you want a song that yanks you outside yourself—maybe leaves a mark—SAVARRE’s waiting, and “Awake” is your wake-up call. Drink it black.
