Rap act $uicideBoy$ are one of the world’s largest independent acts and are deeply involved in the rock & metal scene.
New Orleans-based act $uicideBoy$ are known for their music's raw lyrics and a sound that is described as dark-emo rap. Blending genres like hip-hop, trap, horrorcore, R&B, and influenced by punk and metal at times, $uicideBoy$ were recently featured on the cover of Billboard, named as "one of independent music’s biggest success stories".

$uicideBoy$ is a duo of cousins Scott Arcenaux Jr. (a.k.a. $crim) and Aristos Petrou (a.k.a. Ruby da Cherry). Their distinct sound draws from underground rap and artists like Three 6 Mafia, while their lyrics show inner conflict with intense and raw lyrics that pull no punches.
Today (August 1st) the New Orleans duo unleashed their highly anticipated 5th album Thy Kingdom Come via their label they created, G59 Records. 10 years into their career, $uicideBoy$ have ranked as one of Spotify's most popular artists and are one of the top 5 most streamed artists on Soundcloud. With over 25 billion streams in their career so far, the rap act is one of the largest independent acts in the world and their influence on the music scene is undeniable.
Thy Kingdom Come clocks in at 29 minutes, featuring 10 songs–8 of which were previously unreleased. The first track, Count Your Blessings, starts off with clear Phonk/Memphis Rap influences as cowbells can be heard in the background alongside an equally chill and dark beat filled with booming 808s, melodic piano, and trap beats. As the second-longest track of the album, Count Your Blessings comes across as a little bit repetitive, although the song's flow and beat is catchy.
The next track Napoleon, is a sudden change in sound from the previous track, taking influence from 80s New Orleans Bounce music. $uicideBoy$ does an excellent job of creating a song that is bursting with energy as chants, boosted 808s, and hype beats, create a sound that contrasts the chill atmosphere of the previous track, keeping Thy Kingdom Come interesting and unexpected.
Oh, What a Wretched Man I Am! find the cousins feeling "lucky to still be breathing" and takes a Memphis style with more chill beats and a focus on melody. Full of Grace (I Refuse to Tend My Own Grave) continues the vibe of the previous track, with melancholy lyrics, calm soundscapes, and R&B influences in the song's beat.
Chain Breaker introduces bright synths and a more upbeat sound with more energetic drum beats and aggressive rapping vocals, that create a sound that differs from the previous 2 songs.
Featuring BONES, Now and at the Hour of Our Death follows up on a more aggressive rap style, diverging more towards horrorcore, phonk, and hardcore trap.
Self-Inflicted is a quick hit of a more old-school $uicideBoys with a runtime of just 1:26. Rapid rap flows, hard hitting sub bass and a dark sound create a memorable yet brief track.
Grey+Grey+Grey creates a villainous atmosphere filled with ominous melodies, powerful vocal delivery, and eerie beats. Carried Away brings guest artist Night Lovell into the fray in an atmospheric track that dedicates itself to listeners who are going through tough times.
Final track Monochromatic creates a massive, melody-focused sound with mixed singing and rapping while soaring synths create the song’s backbone. $uicideBoy$ share their feelings of loneliness in a powerful finale to the album.
With Thy Kingdom Come, $uicideBoy$ creatively traverse hardcore hip-hop, trap, horrorcore, phonk, bounce, and emo rap—delivered with their intensely raw and genuine lyrics that everyone has come to expect of the duo. The New Orleans act returns with an impressive 5th Studio Album that pays respects to $uicideBoy$ underground roots while looking forward and showcasing how they’ve earned their place as leaders in the alternative rap scene.
