Song Review: Sunless Paradox Release "Casus Belli"

5-piece French metal act, Sunless Paradox, released their self-titled debut EP in June of 2025. Channeling the nostalgia of 2000s metalcore acts like Trivium, Killswitch Engage, and Bullet For My Valentine, the band's music pays homage to a classic sound.
The track Casus Belli starts off with a rapid drum fill before launching into rapid harmonizing guitar leads, slamming drum grooves, and powerful screams. In a sudden change of dynamics, Sunless Paradox bursts into a singing and a more melodic focus, showcasing both sides of the band's music in traditional metalcore fashion. Sunless Paradox excellently captures the sounds of the 2000s taking listeners to another era, while still adding their own twist and distinct sound to the musical style.
Casus Belli delivers a powerful contrast between intensely heavy verses and soaring anthemic choruses, creating a striking balance between melody and destruction.
Fans of hard rock, metalcore, and heavy metal will certainly enjoy Sunless Paradox's old-school-meets-modern take on metalcore. You can stream the bands latest EP on all platforms now.
