Song Review: 6 Speed Supernova "Starfire"

Hailing from California, Hard rock quartet 6 Speed Supernova released their latest single, "Starfire" on March 16th, 2026.

The band offers some insight into their mission and thought process as a musical act.

“We spend most of our time contemplating the state of things in our lives, in our world , from our perspectives as human beings and try to find ways to be a refuge for the outcasts and misfits, to provide an oasis of sorts to any and all who feel isolated or invisible.”

"Starfire" begins with rapid guitar leads as thumping bass lines and grooving drums are soon introduced. The bouncing melodies and reverb quickly create a cosmic sound that matches the band's theme until electrifying vocals soar through the mix. 6 Speed Supernova creates an instrumental sound that blurs the lines between experimental rock and technical instrumentation, while theatrical and dynamic female vocals switch from huge, gliding melodies to gritty singing with intentional raspiness to add emphasis to words.

In a bridge, clean guitar tremolos create a distant sound, as though the listener is drifting through space before launching into a final chorus. 6 Speed Supernova does an excellent job of creating a very unique atmosphere with reverbed clean guitar throughout the track, while vocals add addictive hooks and harmonies to the forefront of the soundscape.
