Knocked Loose and Denzel Curry Concert Review and Photos

Knocked Loose and Denzel Curry – Shrine Expo Hall – October 29, 2026

Knocked Loose

I’ve been to hundreds of concerts, and never have I seen an audience that wanted to participate more.  At some point, Vocalist Bryan Garris yelled out “If you’re not moshing, why the fuck are you here?”, although it seemed like the entire floor was already moving in a counterclockwise circle. The crowd surfing started in earnest on the opening note of “Killing You”, the first song of their set.  I should have known, because the pit was filled with more security guards than I recall seeing before – I counted 15, but I could have missed one or two – and those catching crowd surfers had their hands full all night.

The 25 date The Hive Mind Tour took its name from the February release of the single “Hive Mind” featuring co-headliner Denzel Curry.  The tour had six more US dates remaining on the schedule when it pulled into Los Angeles, and Thursday night at the Shrine Expo Hall proved just how far Knocked Loose has come.  The 5000-person hall was filled to capacity, a far cry from their humble beginnings in Louisville, Kentucky, where they started in 2013 playing gigs in a basement pizzeria.

This show, had it all – dizzying lights, pyro, a completely fired-up band, and an audience that matched the energy coming from the stage.  I can’t recall a more perfect blend of band and audience, both feeding off the energy of the other.  “California, are we having fun?  This next song is my favorite part of the whole set.  This is the part where we get one million crowd surfers.  For this entire song, I don’t want you to sing, I don’t want you to mosh…I want you to crowd surf.”  Security must have been shitting themselves, because the night had already been a full-on assault from the air, with crowd surfers lined up in several constant streams – this put it completely over the top.

It’s impossible to commit to one moment of the set as a highlight, as the entire show was next level, but co-headliner Denzel Curry came out to perform on their February collaboration “Hive Mind”, and the audience responded by kicking the energy even higher.  Refreshed from an hour-long break after his set, Denzel went off, and exploded on stage, looking less like a rapper and more like someone who had committed completely to the hardcore ethos.  If there were any doubter remaining in the room after his energetic set, they were converted, and the room erupted with his participation.

The final song of the night was “Everything is Quiet Now, and to kick it off, Isaac Hale gave the audience a pep talk.  “So here’s the deal.  I see a lot of people over here, on the sides, and all the way in the back – you’ve just been sitting there filming me for like an hour and fifteen fucking minutes…doing jack shit.  And it’s like, what’s the fucking point?  So here’s the deal – we’re going to play one more song right now, and when we kick in, everyone is going to move.  If you’re standing there and you think I’m not talking to you, I guarantee that I am.  If you see someone with their phone, take it, and chuck it as far as you can!”  The audience had squared off, forming the largest wall of death I’ve ever seen indoors – it stretched from the stage to the back of the enormous hall, and those participating were geared up for battle.  When the drop came, the explosion of people hitting people was unlike anything I’ve seen before, and the energy continued in earnest throughout the final three minutes, leaving the room vibrating with energy, exhaustion, and possibly bruises to be felt the following morning - the perfect night!

Denzel Curry

I didn’t know co-headliner and rapper Denzel Curry heading into Thursday’s show, and apparently, at least one other person was in the same position.  When Denzel came on stage, someone behind me in the front row behind the barricade put his hands to his mouth to amplify the sound, and booed loudly.  I turned around to see who it was and made a mental note.  3:30 minutes later when the first song “HIT THE FLOOR” concluded, the man behind me was jumping up and down, cheering loudly, and pumping his fists in the air.  Music has an amazing healing power, bringing people of all backgrounds together who wouldn’t normally spend time in each other’s company, and that was clearly the case on this night.

Hitting the stage with nothing but a microphone, one leather glove, a DJ (DJ POSHtronaut), and two giant white inflatable warrior anime characters, Denzel wasted no time getting to it and converting the naysayers.  Immediately, circle pits formed, people got strangers to lift them up to crowd surf, and the music compelled people to move.  Denzel moved swiftly from one side of the stage to the other, lingering only long enough to deliver a line, before returning to the other side – constantly in motion, like a shark that can’t stop swimming for fear of dying.

Denzel’s set was a winner, and those that didn’t know him except for his work on the 2026 Knocked Loose track “Hive Mind” were blown away by his performance. His energy was infectious, and the crowd that had shown up to hear one specific style of music, spent an hour going crazy listening, moshing, crowd surfing, and hardcore dancing to another – truly the mark of a successful night.
