Song Review: Flowers For Juno "Message to Lana"
Gothic Rock act Flowers for Juno, fronted by vocalist/producer Benjó James just released their latest single Message To Lana. This release follows their previous December 2025 release, My Bloody Kisses.
The track starts with hazy synths, fuzzy guitar leads, and slamming drums, quickly building an ambient atmosphere that blends old-school goth and synth-pop music with a modern indie rock sound. Echoing vocals and dark pads add to the haunting and depth-filled soundscape.
Unexpectedly around the halfway point of the song, all music cuts out and is replaced by a lofi filtered sample from the song Ugly Bitch by The Mags. After a short interlude, Flowers for Juno fade back in as spacey synth leads and melancholy vocals reintroduce the band's distinct sound.
The band made this statement on the new release.
"I didn't write and record this as quickly as the last single, but it didn't exist as a song until maybe a week prior to release. It was supposed to be part of an EP that for some reason the powers that be aren't letting me release, so this single is all you can hear for now. The cover photo was just one I took of my ex when we were partying in Kazakhstan, and perhaps in some ways that disorienting excess is reflected in the music" - Benjó James
